Somerset School Children Learn about Victorian Christmas
Somerset school children are continuing to learn about the county’s rural heritage thanks to the Somerset Rural Life Museum’s outreach programme.
The Somerset Rural Life Museum is currently closed for a complete refurbishment of the whole site and all displays, due to reopen in early 2017. Throughout the redevelopment the museum’s Primary Schools Programme is continuing to cater for local curriculum needs by offering sessions that take place in school.
These sessions include a combination of previously popular topics and new subjects that reflect the themes of the museum.
Victorian Christmas at Queen’s College in Taunton
South West Heritage Trust Learning Officer Lizzie Mee said: “We’re delighted that as part of the redevelopment we will have a new dedicated community learning room that will provide a bright and contemporary space where school groups can enjoy a range of activities.
“We look forward to welcoming schools back in 2017 but in the meanwhile they don’t need to miss out as we have adapted our museum sessions so that they can be delivered in school.”
